Orienteering

There I was crouching low, listening to the parents instructions, waiting for them to make teams and hand out the maps. I could hear the grass rustling. I felt extremely excited. I wondered how many orienteering posts there will be.

(Joe and I ) checked the map for the closest post then sprinted off. I could hear and see fantails twerping, bellbirds singing and wood pigeons wings flapping.I don't remember thinking anything, only check the map, run, check the map, run, check the map...

"Found one Joe!" I shouted. Joe burst through the undergrowth to"What's the symbol ?" he said. " Its a circle with an arrow". Wow now we've  got quite a lot . Again we sprinted off into the bushes. Swinging across branches, walking across logs. Hey I'm having loads of fun.

Then we bolted into the cricket field where the parents yelled "baking". Taste flooded across my mouth. Mm mm yummy hand-shaped biscuits and brownie.

Joe and I shuffled back to the cabins to share our results.
Wow Joe and I got loads of symbols. I loved this experience.

  1. I love the twerping (is that tweeting and chirping?) birds bit. So vivid Elliot, what an elucidating description! Glad our brownie but the spot!
